Hi Sir, great analysis as always. I have a doubt and would request you to kindly explain.
Why did the depositors start withdrawing their deposits from the bank? What I understand is that the final payout value of the MBSs did remain intact (yielding 1.5 odd percent). It was just a paper loss. If held till maturity, the securities would have eventually yielded 1.5%, so what made the depositors worried?

Leverage is a "double-edged" sword, think in bets, start becoming greedy when others start becoming fearful, understand the key variables and play them, and most importantly "always have a plan" ( it allows you to think through even if you change it as situation changes).
